Nanny’s n’ Stuff

So, my nanny gave her notice two weeks ago… thought for sure I’d have a replacement by now, after all, when I had first posted the ad on craigslist in May I received dozens of replies with in a day or two. Looking back, clearly that was due to the fact that most of them were college students summering on the cape and looking for a part-time job. I’ve had a few bites and a few interviews. Nothing or anyone so special as to hire them on the spot. One girl that I was very interested in, said she was going to school to be a pediatric nurse and has nannied for a few years, came for an interview last weekend, sat at my table and talked about herself, mentioning that she was going into her senior year in highschool. Obviously she isn’t bright enough to have READ the entire job description which clearly states this is a Monday through Thursday position. My husband took Tuesday and Wednesday off of work to stay home with the kids. He announced to me last night that his boss threatened his job if he took another day off… Mind you, it’s okay for other employees to admit to stealing truck loads of furniture while also having a drug problem and keep them on board. But God forbid your faithful employee who rarely calls in sick or takes time off and commutes over one and a half hours to work everyday to get paid not nearly enough has to take a few days for his children, well, that’s certainly a fireable offence!
